Dear mr Müller,
Many thanks for contacting us. The 2 Catalogues Systematicus Bibliothecae Horti Imperialis Botanici Petropolitani by De Berg en Herder are indeed from the collection of Teylers Museum in Haarlem, The Netherlands. The books are still in our (online) database and in older catalogues of our library (see attached photos) but no longer in our possession. We don’t have duplicates of these titles in our collection. The titles have the following numbers IIId 186 and IIId 187.
Traces of the numbers are visible on the first page ( the back of the cover) of both titles as you told me in the conversation we had on the telephone today. This numbers are clearly erased.
Over the Teylers Museum stamp another stamp is placed with the text in German “ausgeschrieben”. Teylers Museum has no stamp with this text. In the case that we written the titles out we would have used the stamp with the text in Dutch “uitgeschreven” (see attached photo). Teylers Museum has a long tradition in collecting and it was not common practice that we sold or donate our books and objects. So my guess is that we involuntary lost possession of these titles. Your suggestion that maybe we have lent it to another party and that the books are not returned is a possibility. But I have searched the archives of the museum but could not find anything about selling or lending. We would appreciate it very much if the titles would return to our museum. Thanks very much for your kind offer of helping us to get them back.
Kind regards

Onderwerp: Antiquarian Books from Teylers Library
Dear Mrs. van der Spek,
we are antiquarian booksellers and just considerating to purchase from a colleague the two books pictured in the attachment (Catalogus 1 and Catalogus 2). Both copies bear a stamp of the Teylers museum on recto of the title-pages, with a later German cancellation stamp. At rear of the books a private purchase note in pencil is found, dated 1962. Both works are listed as present in today's online catalogue of the Teylers library.
Could you please confirm that there have been duplicate sales from the Teylers museum at some time in its history? We would like to make sure before we firmly order the copies.
Many thanks in advance and kind regards,
Andreas Mueller
